The Ultra Shield warrantee that LAZBOY sells with their products is worthless.
It is completely worthless because when you call them with a problem they will find a reason why your specific situation is not covered by their policy.
I bought a reclining couch from LAZBOY with a 5-year Ultra Shield warrantee. When I was purchasing this couch at LAZBOY showroom, the salesperson assured me that my warrantee policy would cover every conceivable case.
After four years, the leather became worn off in several spots and one of the recliners was not setting into a proper closing position. When I first discovered this problem, I did not call the Ultra Shield warrantee right away because I could not find a day during a work week when I or my wife could be home to host their service person.
Finally, a time came when my wife would be home for several weeks. When I called the Ultra Shield warrantee, their representative asked when I first notice the defects I was describing. I mentioned that it was several months ago.
My claim was rejected because, according to their policy, I was supposed to file the claim within first thirty days.
I could not understand why the duration of time would disqualify my claim, but it did.
Several years ago we called The Ultra Shield warrantee with a different problem having to do with stains on the back of the couch. Similarly, the Ultra Shield warrantee department found a way to disqualify our claim.

I bought the Ultra Shield Warranty at a Lazy Boy store when I purchased the recliner.
I have never purchased a warranty on furniture before, but due to the situation, I thought it was good idea. I was completely wrong! Less than 2 years later the recliner had *** in the material. (All the other furniture in my house is older than this recliner and none have holes in them.) I call Ultra Shield.
After 3 calls, I finally received a call back. They told me to e-mail pictures and the original receipt. I did that very day. They never responded.
I resent it 2 more times, no reponse. I called them. They told me I was denied as it was normal wear and tear. Seriously, normal wear and tear!?
An $1800 Lazy Boy Recliner should have *** in it in less than 2 years!? Ultra Shield Warranties are a complete rip off and Lazy Boy should be ashamed to use them! For that matter I will never buy another Lazy Boy product again either. Way to expensive for a shoddy product!
I have better furniture in my house from Overstock.com! (No holes in my much older overstock furniture.)
- Scam product
- Poor customers service and warranty
- Does not follow up with the customer
Preferred solution: I want my recliner repaired.

Same thing happened to me, i mean who notices when a couch deteriorates over time. and a brand new lazy boy piece of furniture that costs thousands of dollars should not deteriorate , but it did and it does, and they did not stand behind their warranty, what a joke, I will never every buy lazy boy furniture again, nor the warranty, Ultra Shield, or Serveco.
Their question of when you first noticed the problem is a trick and you fell for it. Gotta think on your feet and say, "why, just this morning." They may, of course recognize that you are on to them and find another reason to deny coverage, but who knows?
Most, if not all of these warranties for anything are a waste of money. Now you know.
