The Ultra Shield warrantee that LAZBOY sells with their products is worthless.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The Ultra Shield warrantee that LAZBOY sells with their products is worthless.

It is completely worthless because when you call them with a problem they will find a reason why your specific situation is not covered by their policy.

I bought a reclining couch from LAZBOY with a 5-year Ultra Shield warrantee. When I was purchasing this couch at LAZBOY showroom, the salesperson assured me that my warrantee policy would cover every conceivable case.

After four years, the leather became worn off in several spots and one of the recliners was not setting into a proper closing position. When I first discovered this problem, I did not call the Ultra Shield warrantee right away because I could not find a day during a work week when I or my wife could be home to host their service person.

Finally, a time came when my wife would be home for several weeks. When I called the Ultra Shield warrantee, their representative asked when I first notice the defects I was describing. I mentioned that it was several months ago.

My claim was rejected because, according to their policy, I was supposed to file the claim within first thirty days.

I could not understand why the duration of time would disqualify my claim, but it did.

Several years ago we called The Ultra Shield warrantee with a different problem having to do with stains on the back of the couch. Similarly, the Ultra Shield warrantee department found a way to disqualify our claim.

Same thing happened to me, i mean who notices when a couch deteriorates over time. and a brand new lazy boy piece of furniture that costs thousands of dollars should not deteriorate , but it did and it does, and they did not stand behind their warranty, what a joke, I will never every buy lazy boy furniture again, nor the warranty, Ultra Shield, or Serveco.

Their question of when you first noticed the problem is a trick and you fell for it. Gotta think on your feet and say, "why, just this morning." They may, of course recognize that you are on to them and find another reason to deny coverage, but who knows?

Most, if not all of these warranties for anything are a waste of money. Now you know.

Waste of Money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased a warranty for furniture, and they are refusing to honor it because when they asked what the damages were from, unknown reasons was listed. I appealed explaining the reasoning for the damage, and they cant change the reason for the claim, it cant be edited once its in the system. Was even told that they have underwriters to answer to, so apparently their customers are not a priority to them.

Do not waste your money.

There is always an excuse why they don't cover "lifetime ultrashield fabric plan" If you are putting in a claim. Call right away, call the place where you bought your furniture piece from, as ask what you should say to them!!!!!! Timing is everything, on when you report your claim. you may have only a couple of days. so do your homework first! The customer service agent was Jessica, on 2/6/2020 The people that work her should be real proud of the company they work for...NOT!!!

Don't Bother - Waste of Money

They refuse to cover anything - I submitted a claim in regards to 2 rips on our brand new loveseat that were related to loose threads that were pulled and caused tears but wasn't 100% sure on how it happened and they said it was 'unknown damages' and refused to cover it. Even though when we purchased the loveseat we were told it covered all accidental rips and tears.

Big Scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
She said it was abrasion and I said no its not and then she said it had to penetrate the couch I said it did and she said no it didn't and its not covered. They are a scam of a company and How can you tell me that its not penetrated thru the leather and then say it s abrasion and its not. I also said that my husband sat down and when he got up that appeared and because I didn't say it was his belt they are denying it. Such scam

Junk Warranty

Ultra Shield - Junk Warranty
Would not cover premature worn spot on head rest. I am bald. Don’t use hair products. La-Z-Boy assured me extended warranty would protect me for 5 years. Not true. Just a sales technique to give you false confidence so you will buy a poor product.

Won't fix repeat problem

My Lazyboy has a heating element. During the first year the heating element quit working. Lazyboy replaced the heating element at no cost. The same issue occurred within the next year. Ultrashield made the repair at no cost. Nine months later the heating element stopped working. Ultrashield will not make the repair. They claim that it has already been repaired twice and declared the chair defective. The sole reason l got the extra protection/warranty was to cover incidents like this. The warranty makes no claim against repeat repairs. I will be seeking legal advice next week.

I bought the Ultra Shield Warranty at a Lazy Boy store when I purchased the recliner.

Original review Jun 08, 2018
I purchased a Lazy Boy Recliner as my husband was in the hospital having just had bypass surgery and need something that reclined to sit/sleep in once he got home. I was encouraged to purchase the ultra shield warranty so if there where any stains or rips in the funiture they would fix it.

I have never purchased a warranty on furniture before, but due to the situation, I thought it was good idea. I was completely wrong! Less than 2 years later the recliner had *** in the material. (All the other furniture in my house is older than this recliner and none have holes in them.) I call Ultra Shield.

After 3 calls, I finally received a call back. They told me to e-mail pictures and the original receipt. I did that very day. They never responded.

I resent it 2 more times, no reponse. I called them. They told me I was denied as it was normal wear and tear. Seriously, normal wear and tear!?

An $1800 Lazy Boy Recliner should have *** in it in less than 2 years!? Ultra Shield Warranties are a complete rip off and Lazy Boy should be ashamed to use them! For that matter I will never buy another Lazy Boy product again either. Way to expensive for a shoddy product!

I have better furniture in my house from Overstock.com! (No holes in my much older overstock furniture.)
